Take them out and wash the outside thoroughly with normal liquid dish detergent. Then pour a solution of water and detergent into the headlight, plug the hole (old bulb will do) and shake it vigorously. Repeat several times. Rinse thoroughly with water. If you find the white deposits still there, use a mild white vinegar solution to get rid of it. Always follow the vinegar solution with a couple detergent rinses.
Now comes the important part. Rinse the headlight several times with DISTILLED water. Drain completely. Tilt the headlight so that any puddle will form near the edge and not in the middle. Drain. Repeat. Get rid of as much water as possible.
You can use a hairdryer or another good heat source to get rid of the remaining moisture faster.
The result is amazing.
