Thanks for the feedback, I'll keep the methods in mind (and the distilled water is good, tho I have usually used meths or isopropyl alcohol on glass on the basis of what's good for the bulb should be OK for the fitting).

However - I take it you mean fill the light fitting up from the bulb hole, right? I don't know how well this will work with the dreaded low beam ellipsoid units since they have two chambers (either side of the internal lens). I'll see how it goes and post an FAQ when I've done it, anyway.
