I have a problem with my speedometer in my '88 750iL. It doesn't work. It worked fine until I installed the white face gauges in it yesterday. Does anyone have any suggestions? Has anyone else had this happen? I followed the instructions in Bentley's for removing the instrument cluster and then followed the instructions that came with the white face gauge overlays. I rotated the speedometer to 12 o'clock and then released it as the instructions said. It took me a couple of tries to get it set up right so that the speedometer returned all the way to zero. After getting everything put back together, I took the car for a drive. The tachometer was off and the speedometer didn't work at all. I took everything back apart and noticed that I didn't have the speedometer needle pressed on as far as the rest of the needles (it was just barely sitting on the shaft splines. I adjusted the tach needle and pressed the speedometer needle on better. I drove the car again and everything worked correctly except for the speedometer. I tried adjusting the speedometer two more times and driving the car and it still isn't working. Any suggestions as to what could have happened? Am I going to need to buy another speedometer unit? Any help is greatly appreciated as I need to get a state inspection on the car this week, so I can get it titled. Thanks!!

BTW, the white face gauges really look sharp! :) I just wish the speedometer worked again. :(
