This is how it should be, if it is fuel injector ticking. Typically, you can only hear the noise when the hood is open or only faintly from the outside of the car if the hood is closed. If the ticking is more pronounced than this I would re-check the valve clearances. If the rate of ticking follows engine speed while the car is stationary, this points to the fuel injectors or the valve train. Other possibilities could be the main fan or the auxiliary fan hitting something.
