help with rearview mirror (archive)

I knocked the rearview mirror off. It came off the "attachment thing" and it is just hanging by a thick wire. I was wond4ering if you could help me to repair it. It looks like it would just hook on. Has anyone had this happen to them and what did you do to fix it? Thanks!
