Even under most severe conditions uphill >5000RPM
temperature well above 100°F the needle should not be more than ist thickness (1-2mm) to the right of the absolutely vertical position.
Check the aux fan also and the 30Amp fuse related.

The V12 runs at the same temperature as all the other BMW engines (with the exception of those V8 suffering from high sulfur).Those had been set to a higher operating temperature. As far as i know all the thermostates have the same rating.
