Only thought for something banging that loud you could hear it, that makes the engin run better, and could bang that loud repeatedly while not breaking the engine to my guess would be the airflow meter flap; maybe that stuck, and your idle session freed it?

Easy to check - dismount and check the flap for gunge on the wall that would interfere with free movement... should be little rubber bump stop (there is on the AFM that come with my mbikes, haven't checked the M30 one yet, just looks about 25% bigger).

This could be totally wrong, of course...


It hasn't done it since, and it's running better too !!!

Don't know why though :=(
