Moments of terror: I bet Don Eilenberger (sp? sorry Don) will agree having road gravel stuck in the cluch release arm of your K100 - so you can't pull the clutch in - and wanting to cut down a gear to engine brake going into a sharp bend is a "nice" moment.

Done 200 miles since: raises 2 points. If bolt is out, cam is DRY. Not good. Also local friend had has Jap diesel drip an oil pump bolt into the sump - it rattled for almost 10,000kms the - the mechanic said it was OK, also the oil light would flash occiasionally. Short sharp trip at just over 10K kms and the only thing savagable was the block - all other lower internals shredded (started with hoiled piston & snapped #3 (of 4) conrod and that did the rest).

If you're going to get the AFM off anyway, pop the valve cover too?... there, someone else suggested it, so you can blame me for the time wasted if you need to.

Cheers.

Good idea, I'll do this. I wish that I could re-live the moment because with the benefit of hindsight I would know what to listen for and check, but 20 secs of sheer panic on the driveway, while expecting to get to see the con rods without head removal does not propagate clear thinking :-(

I did wonder of the oil spray bar banjo bolt hadn't fallen outt and jammed a valve, but I've done 200 miles since and it seems great...

Now I'm even believing that it was a dream (nightmare)
