Gang, I too have been having starting problems here in Denver with my '88 735i. When the temp drops below 30-35, the fuel mixture seems very rich. It catches with difficulty and needs a few seconds to burn it off. It also tends to smoke a little at the start. When the temp drops further when starting it fires in the begining only and here and there during prolonged cranking (10-15 sec) but not enought to catch. After leaving it with the dealer for several days so they could see the starting problems, they changed the spark plugs, crankshaft position sensor (found missing signal one day)& crankcase vent hoses but it still did not find the problem. They tested the fuel pressure & regulator and tested fine. I wonder if it could be a temperature sensor going bad with too low readings than actual and resulting in too a rich start mixture. Any ideas??? Any help is greatly appreciated as it is pain in the behind. Thanks in advance.
