Mine is a 92 735i. It never worked either until I left the battery disconnected overnight. It seems that cleared something, now the codes flash properly.

I have a 1988 735i manufactured in 12/87. I have a Check Engine Light. But this procedure of stepping on the Accelerator Pedal 5 times has never worked. Can anyone else with the same make and year do this????
