Now & then over some [small] hole in the road I 'feel' a slight noise in the front, something like metal on metal which wasn't there... Tires are ok, it must be a combo of some of the factors you mentioned (thank you). The mechanic(s) must go as well...

The self-levelling system only affects the rear of the car not the front suspension. From your earlier description, the problem could be worn shock absorbers, badly balanced front tires, worn thrust arm bushings, or a combination of one or more of these. I think you are right in looking for another mechanic. Maybe if you post your location someone on the board might be able to recommend a good mechanic in your area.

I'm afraid I'm messing up the messages; 1st time around and don't know where to place the follow-up. However I thank you very much for the news... It might be that I was given a wrong estimate My car is the one with the leveling system... you still believe it's about $700 for the parts?

The rattling I mentioned is so hard (when it occurs) that it makes me thing the car will desintegrate next seconds...

Thanks again and if you confirm your advice it looks like I need a new shop as well
