I know why brake pads wear out so fast on the BMW's.

Your driving into a corner, the car is deceptively fast, you are going faster than you suspected when entering the turn, you hit the brakes harder than you would like to, you whip through the turn like you meant to go that fast, due to the fine German engineering, your passengers are extremely impressed and want more, and now you have to drive that way for the rest of the trip.
