Its one of those minor problems. My former 735 and my current 750 both did same thing. Pretty common. I don't recall if its the control knob itself or another module, but that's what it does when it breaks. I had the dealer fix it. Maybe someone else knows whaat it is and you can resolder leads, etc.
Good luck.

I have only had my 750iL for a week now and I am still figuring out how everything works. I am a little stumped with the heater and fan. When I turn on the heater nothing blows through the vents even though the fan switch is turned to the half-way point. If I turn fan to max blow, the heated air immediately comes out of the vents. Then, if I turn it back to the half-way point, nothing comes out. But....if I leave on max blow for a couple of minutes then turn it to the half-way point, the fan speed decreases properly and continues to blow. Is this normal? Or is this just one of those "minor" electrical problems that BMW is so well known for?
