It all started after I washed the engine,I have "fooled" With the throttle and it helped a little but it does'nt purr anymore.any comments other than dum***?

Sounds like sparkplugs are fouled from wet sparkplug wires leaking off their current. Open the plastic cover & wipe down the wires. Remove distributer cap & rotor & wipe dry. New cap, rotor, plug wires, & plugs would be all the better. Set the gap wide, .032". Take it out on the road & run it for a while until fully warm to dry everything out. A dose of injector cleaner in the gas may help as well.
