I am very positive that in the last 25 years none of the cars manufactured in Germany had a feature allowing the driver to open the trunk from the inside.I am not taking about beetles and 911s. Why would I want to open the trunk from the inside. With a central locking systems it is open anyways (unless locked manually with the key) when the doors are unlocked.

My idea of a luxury car does not include this feature. And the design engineers in this contry concentrated on more important things (fuel injection, ABS etc.)
