Due to the recent purchase of a new vehicle (M3), I am selling the car described above. The car is in excellent mechanical condition (very reliable) and appearance-wise is definitely better than good, but not excellent. I have receipts for all work / parts purchased during my ownership. Most of the work was performed by me (yes, I am qualified). All trouble areas, common to this model/year have been addressed and repaired. Service/repair-work performed over the past 5,000 miles (12 months) includes:
New struts/shocks (Bilstein Heavy Duty)
New springs (BMW original equipment)
New front suspension links (4 arms, including new bushings and ball-joints)
New front sway bar links (2)
New steering idler arm
New steering pitman arm
New rear-suspension toe control links (2)
New rear suspension subframe mounts (2)
New power brake pressure accumulator
Adjusted steering-box free-play
New transmission mounts
Remanufactured drive-shaft
New battery
New tires
New front brakes (Performance friction pads, re-surface rotors)
New rear brakes (Metal-master pads, re-surface rotors)
New Fuel filters (2, BMW original equipment)
New Air filters (2, BMW original equipment)
New Spark plugs (12)
New Accessory drive belts and tensioners
As you can see, my goal was to renew all the rubber components of the suspension that wear-out over time (this is a 13 year old car) and fix some of the more common problems with the early E32 cars)
So what’s wrong with the car? Nothing really, but here are several things that I might consider fixing if I kept the car:
The leather is showing some wear (no rips or tears, but normal wear creases)
The wheels are somewhat discolored by brake dust around the venting holes
There are 2 quarter sized paint imperfections (There was some surface rust that I sanded away, and fixed with touch-up paint to prevent further problems during the winter. The metal is 100% solid and any body shop could fix these for about $200 total).
Passenger-side font-door lock does not work (power feature doesn’t work, lock mechanism does). A simple fix, but I haven’t had the time.
I’m asking $7,400, but will definitely consider offers. I have pictures that I can e-mail if you are interested. Please do not hesitate to write me at Wniaura@aol.com or call me at 330-836-0735. I am located in Akron, OH.
