There are tools called spark plug thread chasers, which are essentially taps to clean the threads. The problem is the likelihood of dropping chips in the cylinder.

Two suggestions to prevent this:

1. Apply axle grease to the chaser threads to hold the chips.

2. Using a verry powerful shop vac to apply vacuum to the immediate area to catch any loose chips.

Disclaimer: These are suggestions only. Proceed at your own ri$k.

What seemed like a routine task turned into a nightmare -
replaced 5 plugs w/o a hitch, on a forwardmost plug the thread seems to be shut - possibly applied a bit too much torque. Now the new plug nor any old ones will screw in.
Short of calling me an idiot, which I porbably am, can anyone suggest anything?

Many thanks in advance, Ed.
