I had an E23 735i, then got an E32 750iL. Boy, what a difference. I don't know how much is due to the E23 vs. E32, though. In the 735i, I felt the rear tires were practically under my butt, further back than a 535, but not very far back. When I got the 750 it was like driving Mom's station wagon (that goes back a lot of years). The back end was waaaay back there, and it just seemed bigger all over. Going into an interstate ramp curve I always took at a comfortable 80 to 90 in the 735i, pushing 80 in the 750 I could feel the back end trying to break out. A bit unnerving, and that's with 8.5" and 9" tires.
But it still handles like few other cars made, drives like a dream, and I believe that most people don't feel there is much difference between the i and iL. I don't think there is much difference on a track, but there is a little difference.

I had thought I would go back to an i, the next time I buy a car, but, after riding in one lately, I will probably go for an iL. If you have a family and will have people in the back seat, the iL makes a world of difference.

Oh well, I way off the point. Good luck!

Is there a difference in the driving feel and handling of an "i" as opposed to an "il". Have not driven a "il" but own and drive an "i". Does the extra length make a difference in the handling over curvy roads? Ideas.
