The microchip thing you describe is the photo sensor. I am not sure what you mean by dip, but the way mine works is the glass goes dark, like photo ray sunglasses when hit by headlights. To test this put a flashlight on the photo cell and see if the glass goes dark when the unit is turned on.


With the headlights on I can only dim the mirror by sliding the selector all the way to the right and the green LED comes on. At night when car lights are right on the mirror and the selector set almost all the way to the right the mirror still won't dip. The only way it will dip is if you slide the selector all the way to the right. Has it got something to do with those little circle microchip looking things on the front and back of the mirror? I've tried shinning a torch at the front microchip in the dark but it still won't dip automatically.
