Alot of discussion has gone back and forth on the website about the M60 engine. I'm sure most of you are aware that the nikasil material in the engine block has a high susceptibility for experiencing a corrosive reaction with the sulfur in US gasoline. As an act of good faith, BMWNA raised the warrantee of this engine to 6yrs/100k miles. Under this warrantee SEVERAL individuals whose cars failed BMW's special diagnostic test (leakdown) received engine replacements. The recent discussion on the website pertains to the few people who have not accrued very high mileage (and therefore have not developed the problem YET) and are running out of time for the 6yr caveat. I am currently drafting a letter to BMWNA to address this issue and I was wondering if any '93 to '95 730 & 740 owners are interested.
