A couple of questions on this one then..
If the box is sealed and there is only a drain plug the how would you check the fluid level without pouring the tranny fluid..
also if you have to fill it back in seems to me you have to turn the car upside down to fill it in...
I know I said something funny and naive but don't have the manual yet....
By the way there is a cool ad germany direct with info on how to get full on-line cds to the internals of the car...anyone got that yet..?
Unlike previous BMWs I've owned I can't find a dipstick for the auto box. I note the engine oil capacity is nearly 8 litres. Does the engine oil serve the auto box?
You do not. The transmission is sealed. The only way to check fluid level and condition is via the drain plug, underneath. Theoretically, you should never have to do anything with this transmission. However, there has been much discussion on this board to the effect that a fluid change is helpful.
