I noticed a 'dragging' sound at the rear right when I took a left turn. As I just had the cars rear fixed at the dealer I thought maybe some 'newness' and indead it disappeared quickly.
I noticed a slight rubbery(?) smell when I stepped out of the car, but I had the exhaust rubbers renewed so . . . ?

Yesterday I took a swooping left turn and while releasing the pedal to return to normal speeds I had a terrific shake through the car. I stopped thinking I had one of those ball-joints at the front wheels 'unplugged' (or so). This was not the case. Started driving, same thing: while slowing down a super shimmy went through the car. Happily I was very near the dealer so I 'limped' there.
I will get hold of the car tommorrow, it was a dragging (hand) brake shoe (this basically means it eventually must have been melting down while I was driving - otherwise it doesn't stick).

Just to warn you that something small might kill the day.
Why don't you jack the car up and see if the wheels turn freely?

Good luck, WimE 1992 740 (3-series now:(

(They just replaced them and I was told not to worry about the bill - what on earth did they think I was thinking!)
