Most likely rings as Brian suggested. Perhaps the car sat for awhile or was babied by the previous owner & carboned up, but after 4,000km the rings would have loosen up by now. If the engine overheated in a past life, the rings could have softened. A compression check might help narrow it down, you can "read" the plugs to see if they indicate oil consumption & check for a head gasket leak although you did say the coolant & oil look good.

A long shot, but changing brands of oil may help, an oil with a lower flashpoint can evaporate on the underside of the pistons (more of a problem on bigblock American V-8's) at higher temps & get swept out by the emissions system & you may not see evidence of smoking out the tailpipe in smaller amounts if it gets consumed in the cat. Have the PCV valves checked to make sure they're not stuck open fulltime.

Most synthetics will give you a much higher flashpoint than dino oil, so worth looking into. I included a link to an excellent article on oils from "Pelican Parts" site.
