Had the same problem, "low oil level" indication and high oil consumption. Even after adding one or two quarts indicator came back. Changed all the crank case venting valves and tubing going the throttle housing. Still have very little vacuum when opening the filler cap. But oil consumption back within limits (2quarts for 7-8k miles)Also no more "low oil level" indications.
