Has a leak down test/engine replacement been done? These cars had bad engines and BMW was replacing them (6 yr. warranty).
In looking for a CD changer:
The stock radio in is made by Pioneer. Your car is also pre-wired for a CD-Changer (look under the drivers side back wall in the truck for the connection). The stereo will only work with a BMW changer - you can't use the generic Pioneer. The sort of good new is you can use either the BMW Pioneer 6 disc changer or the BMW Alpine 6 disc changer - try junk yards.
Also do you have keyless entry? The car is wired for it and likely the control unit is still in place - so you only need the remote.
A few random things:
All the windows/sunroof are one touch up and down. With the car running, just tap a window button and automatically the windows will go up or down.
Also if the car is off, keys out, if you have not open the driver's door the windows/sunroof can still be rolled up (one touch doesn't work).
If you lock the car with key and hold the key in the lokcked position all the windows/sunroof will automatically close.
The passanger mirror will point at the curb if the car is in reverse and the driver door mirror control switch in set to control the drivers mirror.
I once read if you contact BMW North America they will send you a free owners manual - I got mine from a dealer for $15 (before I knew).
-Best of Luck they are great cars
