By all means, do not buy it without having it inspected by a dealer. The intake gaskets go bad and electrical gremlins, just like you describe, can become nightmares. I have spent maybe $5,000 on my car in the past 2 years, but I hate when something is not perfect. My flashers started coming on when I turn the car off, or even when I open a door with the motor running. Dealer said it was the crash switch. It wasn't.
Also, I believe a little dot will light up at the bottom left or right of the odometer if it has been tampered with.
Good luck. They are wonderful cars, but can send you to the poorhouse, especially if you aren't a diy kind of guy.

I have tried doing that and it does nothing. When the car is first started, the hazard lights are ON, and you have to turn them off. Everything else on tehc ar works great, I jsut fear that it may cost me a pretty penny if something major is wrong with it.....

How are you trying to change the Language. I found that pushing the reset rod to the right of the display until the Display blinks, then doing the same until I get to English does the trick. Sometimes it takes longer than the 10 seconds. But, I have never heard of one being stuck in German???

Get back to me

Regards,

Tom
