The error codes are retrieved by doing the "stomp test" to get the "Check Engine" light (lower left of gauge cluster below fuel gauge) to do a series of flashes which reveal which fault code(s) are stored in memory. This link outlines the proceedure clearly. If you can't get it to work, post again, there are a couple caveats.
