Turns out that my problem was due to a faulty master cylinder.

The brake pedal starts reacting to inputs earlier as it is driven longer....

here's the chain of events. when the car is first turned on and driven, pressing the brake pedal to a position(deflection) of let's say 2in down produces a braking force of 5. as the car is driven longer, the pedal position gets less and less to get to the same braking force of 5 such that after about 20mins/15mi (don't know if it's dependent on time or distance or times brakes are applied) the pedal feels stiff and the brakes are slightly engaged (noticed by faster deceleration than normal while coasting).

got my ideas but not sure what would cause that.....piston not retracting back? building up of hydraulic pressure in the brake system?
