Find The pieces of the rocker arms. Make sure the rocker arms are not siezed in the valve guides. Check the compression of the cylinder Besure the camshaft rotates freely. check the oil distribution rail retention bolt.it loosens over long period of time and may case oils stavation at the front of the motor.they have made a new bolt that locks in place. the rocker arms are replacable, you'll probably have to remove the head though. The bently manual is a good recource for specs. I WAS GOING TO ADJUST THE VALVE FOR MY 88 735i W 166K MILES WHEN TO MY DISMAY AND HORROR I FOUND TWO BROKEN ROCKER ARMS.
