Has anyone had the pleasure of removing the headliner shell out of an E32 iL? How much of a pain was it? I assume that the 'oh-my-God' handles, lights, switches and A-C pillar trim pieces all have to come out. One probably must remove one or both front seats. Anything else? Does the shell fit out the rear door without difficulty?

I am looking for actual experience (I have the Bentley). Thanks!

I did the job a while ago, used information from the following link: (Thanks, David!)

it took about 3 hours total, I managed to do it without removing front seat (I have a 735i, so you have bigger rear doors... but a longer headliner).

Advice for next time:
1.) watch out you don't break clips on C-pillar trim
2.) Be careful in re-installing B-pillar trim, I somehow got the power seatbelt adjuster set about 2" lower on the right than on the left.
3.) Be VERY careful not to chip the edges of the backerboard, it is VERY difficult to maneuver the whole unit into the car without pinching/pressuring these edges.

Good luck, let us know how it turns out!
