yeah i did it, it wasnt too awful but theres a few things to watch out for. CAREFULLY remove the metal tabs around the sunroof, otherwise you'll bend them out of shape, or break the plastic. dont try to rip out the oh shit handles, they have plastic retaining clips besides the 2 screws, and you could break them off. I had already gutted my entire interior and the headliner was the last thing I removed and the first thing i installed. sliding it through that front door can be rough. it helps to have BOTH seats removed. can save more time than trying to push it around them. even the back seat would be a good idea to remove. it is easier to get out than put in, so you may want to consider removing all those seats just to prevent damage to your new headliner.
Has anyone had the pleasure of removing the headliner shell out of an E32 iL? How much of a pain was it? I assume that the 'oh-my-God' handles, lights, switches and A-C pillar trim pieces all have to come out. One probably must remove one or both front seats. Anything else? Does the shell fit out the rear door without difficulty?
I am looking for actual experience (I have the Bentley). Thanks!
