IN the meantime, put me down, too.
Everyone,
Alot of discussion has gone back and forth on the 530i.org website about the M60 engine. I'm sure most of you are aware that the nikasil material in the engine block has a high susceptibility for experiencing a corrosive reaction with the sulfur in US gasoline. As an act of good faith, BMWNA raised the warrantee of this engine to 6yrs/100k miles. Under this warrantee SEVERAL individuals whose cars failed BMW's special diagnostic test (leakdown) received engine replacements. The recent discussion on the 530i.org website pertains to the few people who have not accrued very high mileage (and therefore have not developed the problem YET) and are running out of time for the 6yr caveat. I am currently drafting a letter to BMWNA to address this issue and I was wondering if any '93 to '95 730 & 740 owners are interested.

Ihave a '93 740il with 80k on it.Seems to run fine but like everyone else I'm concerned about tomorrow. Put me down. Also I purchased it from a dealer in berkley calif. who never mentioned anything about the sulfur problem. Yea I know their trying to sell the car and not to concerned about my interests, but I wounder if any liability comes into play when this is known to be a nation wide problem acknowledged by BMW. At any rate I'd like to be included. Steve
