All of the graphs I've encountered thus far for engine and transmission chip upgrades show the impact on torque, but I haven't run into any info re impact on mpg. What have you folks seen?

Thanks.

I've seen graphs on the net about German datenblatt chiptuning where the chipping supposedly increased the power from 300 to 320 hp, the max torque from 450 to 480 Nm AND gave about a litre per 100 km better fuel economy on all speeds.

It's very easy to put a graph like that on the Net and I cannot confirm if this is really the case.

Of course you could tell the guys on the 850 board that you drive a 850i and are looking forward to tuning it, pretend to be a 850 driver and they might even answer :-) They know a lot more about chipping than 750 drivers, it seems.

My 1990 750i is supposed to be chipped but I haven't had the time to check it out yeat and my wife screams so much at 220km/h that I would have to be alone to test if there is a limiter or not...

ps: original chip is always a compromise between power, economy and easy driving. Even if some chip would give you 50 hp more at 5600 rpm (or 6600 rpm!) it would then probably have less hp at 1000 rpm than it does now and thus be more difficult to drive.

Dunno, mine feels better than sex anyway! (Don't get me wrong my wife is great ;-D )
