Stig:

I haven't had any direct experience with the hotter cam situation, but have some general thoughts you might want to consider (and maybe ask your cam supplier about):

1) cams are usually about moving the gas around better, and will probably do this by opening the valves further and/or longer. If they are pushing the design limits for the sealing ability of the valves (especially the exhausts) you might want to have the head pulled and the valve seats checked for condition before you add the cam... I'm thinking to avoid burnt exhaust valves particularly here.

2) more valve opening also means engine will expect to "breathe" more - so the flow through the stock air filter / exhaust MAY become a limiting factor at higer RPMs

3) I'd probably consider it worthwhile to check all the condition of all the rockers and valves before you put the new cam on anyway (common sense, really)

4) If you're going to run the engine harder, I'd review all the other systems as well (engine mounts, belts, hoses, coolant, fuel filters, fuel regulator, plugs, oil etc) for condition and suitability - eg now might be a good time for the next grade of oil up. Also you might want to consider your service intervals for oil and filters etc...

BTW no problem at all with the English - you are probably better than me (I make lots of typos!!)

Max

I need to change the cam of my 91 mod 735. Does anyone have any experience with a sports cam. Will it give more power, and how much ?. What will it do with the engine, some bad experiences ?. The price is not that different, US$ 200, for an original, US$ 450 for a sports cam. Prices are for just the cam, from Motornord in Sweden.
Hope someone could share their experiences.
Excuse my bad english !!
