Most likely it is the hydraulic accumulator.

Repalcement is quite easy. The "bomb" is behind the left foglight. Lift the car, take left wheel off. Remove brake vent duct. Bentley says generator cooling duct, wrong. You nee a craw foot attachment (17mm)and just 13mm socket wrenches for the two mounting bolts. Get anough pentosin of the right spec. See top of reservoir for this. No big deal. Since the bomb is not cheap
and it is not much labor, you could have the dealer do it. If I remember correctly the bomb costs about 600DM.
