Automatic shift problems (A5S 560Z) E32 '94 740I (archive)

A couple days ago when I was backing up briskly, the trans started to slip. Forward shifting was fine. This car has had no problems until this happened. It has 86K miles and runs great. I was not able to repeat this behavior the next several days.

One morning, I backed out of the garage at idle with no problem. However, when I shifted into Drive it wouldn't move! Put in neutral and moved back as in reverse. Put in reverse and worked as expected. I've parked it and taking to BMW in the morining.
I heard there was a tech bulletin on this model for valve body problems.
Has anybody experienced this problem? I don't want to shell out $5000 for a tranny!
