I was wondering if anyone has the wiring diagrams for the 1988 735il regarding the radio system. My main concern is with the factory amplifier, possibly finding a way to harness and by-pass it, instead of re-wiring the car.
If anyone just knows, or could possibly mail/fax me a copy of the diagram it would be very appreciated.

Peter

Itīs been done in my car. I guess yours is the same as mine. The original radio/cd/cassette deck didnīt have any built in amplifier so there wasnīt any speaker-cables available in the dashboard where the unit sits. The previous owner of mine had 4 new wires streched to the back/trunk and disconnected the amplifer (all wires). In the trunk the original speaker-wires which came from the amp were connected with the new ones laid to the dash. The cables are drawn right side under the carpet, under right backseat and into trunk. Iīll check in detail if you want. But I am sure if you look at the factory amp youīll see 4 speaker connectors (not sure if they were on left side when you look into the trunk) which you can just plug out of the amp and wire into. I just recall that yellow wires are left side, and blue are right side speakers (from when I replaced the speakers in mine recently).
Just get back to me if you want a schematics. I can draw one for you which would explain it better than words.
