Believe a bad bomb generally yields a hard
brake pedal as opposed to soft as mentioned.. incidently not unlike the nitrogen cannisters/ brake bombs for the LAD rear suspension that give a very hard bouncey ride after being spent. A soft pedal is sometimes the result of air in the system.
May want to replace/bleed brake fluid first and
then diagnose brake bomb....not a bad practice
anyway as most brake fluids are hydroscopic and
warrant replacement every 1 to 2 years.
Hope this helps,
George

Mine had exactly same symptoms. Replacing ( 91 750 iL) is a 2h job. Bomb costs $150. Just my $0.02

the symptoms on mine are that when you push the pedal down in a panic stop it is like you have no power brakes the pedal is very hard and the the power slowly comes on.
