Not sure on exact torque setings, but make sure the sump plug is installed with a new washer (comes with filter) and done up firmly, without overtightemning. The filter cap only needs moderate torque - the 'o' rimng does the sealin g, not the tensiopn on the bolt. Make sure you replace all three seals with the filter - the little 'o' ring on the bottom of the bolt, the aluminium washer under the head of the bolt, and the big 'o' ring.

I have started an oil change, and don't have my manual with the torque settings for the drain plug and filter cap.

Anybody have the figures handy for a 1988 735i? Any help would be appreciated!
