Know what you mean about not making the job anymore difficult than it is but I would disconnect or loosen a few things before I would push up the motor...agree its OK to push up on the
pan..use a large block to distribute the stress.
One tip is to push up on the pass side of the pan
(LHS) for uniform lifting of the motor...probably
a safer practice to push closer to the pan wall
anyway. The pan centerline is located closer to the driver side mount. Then you don't have to lift separately to raise the motor off each mount...I'm not comfortable pushing off the compressor bracket. I would also loosen the trans mounts and while back there the exhaust hanger bracket..just a few things to take some of the stress off. Not disputing what you did, just
another point of view.

The tips of the fanblades did start contacting the shroud, so being plastic, I merely flexed them out of the way. The shroud does come off easily if you rotate it, but I just did that the weekend before while adjusting the valves & didn't feel like doing it again
