My dad has the 94 740IL and is a pain. The transmission has been replaced due to previous owner lack of care and didn't do the tranny service every 30,000 miles. It says the tranny oil is lifetime, but that's not true buddy. Go to the dealer and ask them...about it? My dad's one died in 100,000 miles and cost him 6 grands to replace it. Better watch out buddy....
Good Luck!! Hope this will help!Ron
I was told by several mechanics that premium fuel actually typically contains less sulfur than other octane ratings. I have no idea if this is true, but the prior owner of my 94 740iL and myself have always used premium and so far (knock on wood), no Nikasil block problems (orig M60 engine, 55,000 miles and counting).
Of course, the damn thing could also just be waiting for my guard to drop before turning a beauty into a beast that needs a new engine ...
