I have an '88 and looked for one last winter without success. The dealer does not list it as an option!! I have since found that the block does have frost plugs but have not measured them for a fit. According to a post I received from Mike Krahn, the 735 apparently has block heaters available. Other discussions circled around pan mounted units as being the only other viable option (dipstick styles typically won't handle vacuum and in-line styles will likely run into problems with the heating system valving). I haven't spent time on this yet but as you suggested, it will be on the list for the summer...keep me/us from the colder climates posted.

As for the frost plug size - has anyone out there measured them before or have easy access to measure them? TIA

'88 750iL (Calgary, Alberta, Canada - warm now...cold later!!)

Does anyone know if my 1992 750iL is likely to have an engine block heater hiding somewhere? One of my summer projects will be to install one if I can't find one already installed on the car. Temperatures where I live can get as low as -40 deg C or colder. So far I haven't found anything resembling a block heater. Many new cars sold in Canada now come standard with a block heater, making me think that there is a chance that there is a factory or dealer installed heater already in this car if I can find it.

Thanks,
Jason
