Correct - do not fully empty.

Must also admit some confusion here too - filling the reservuour up with new fluid is usually the precursor to a full bleed-through, but to ensure fresh fluid in all the lines / calipers rather than to remove air...

Hint for this is also to compress the old fluid out from behind the caliper pistons with a large C-clamp.

Another question regarding brake fluid replacement is that if I plan to use a syringe to suck out the brake fluid from the reservoir, will that require me to have to bleed the brake system or can I avoid this by not sucking all the fluid out leaving a bit at the bottom?
