I wrote up one a while back for someone having trouble starting, etc. an E31 (840). It is not tailored specifically to your exact situation but you should get something out of it. Have a look and then we can discuss specifics.

My BMW 740i did the exact same thing. Sometimes it would stall when I was in reverse and turned the wheel hard. Yesterday it stalled in traffic just as you describe. IT restarted fine but today it cranks and doesn't fire. I jumped the relay and it seemed I had no voltage going to the fuel pump. Could this be an electrical problem? I don't want to bring it in if all I have to do is replace a relay, but by jumping the relay and not having volts back at the pump it would seem the problem could be the wirking between the relay and the pump.
