Mine has the same symptoms except for the surge. A souple of years ago, after trying to rev it on a lift to see if my tires were in balance and realizing what the asc was doing, I figured out that the stumbling may be related. Sure enough. Now I turn the darn thing off almost every time I get in the car -- unless I'm going to need it -- as it seems to do that (stumbling or missing) a lot.

I have a 1991 750iL with 35k miles and the following symptoms:

when running at low revs -1,500 t0 2,000 on a light throttle the car hesitates, stumbles and surges - even if the throttle is closed the revs may increase. With the throtle wide open performance is fine, and also at higher revs.

When in lock up 4th gear at say 60mph+ when lifting off and re-applying the throttle there is a definite jolt - my earlier 735 didn't do this.

Any ideas?

Andy
