With cylinder six, it's a tiny bit harder to get out than the rest, and I find most paid by the hour especially at the dealer mechanics, skip it and with immoral attitude, they think that the rich morron that can afford a bimmer, would unlikely check it out himself.... I make it a habit to either watch everything done to my car, or check it after.. immediately..they have no scruples... listen to this...
I had my car (2 years ago) at a bimmer specialist trained by the stealer to be a better thief here in toronto called lakeside motors...owner Mike...for a change of both heater valves, an oil lube and filter, plus air filter , after a hefty charge, (can't remember exactly how much, but I know he charges $80/hr, only $5 cheaper than dealer) I found he did not change the air filter and he did not change the valves.....never again, and by the way..IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT BY INFORMATION PROVIDED HERE ON THE FORUM, NO ONE CAN FIX IT, NOT EVEN THE BEST BMW DEALER GUARANTEED.....
AND IF A BMW DEALER IS READING, I CHALLENGE YOUR BEST MECHANICS, WITH AN ASSEMBLEY OF FORUM REGULARS, AND WE'LL MAKE YOU TASTE THE DUST OF A REAL BIMMER ENTHUSIASTE....

I have posted a couple messages this week about an idle stumble, and hesitation under hard acceleration. The previous owner had the car to the dealer several times for this problem, the dealer replaced the DME, the ICV, the battery, and reported that they could not verify the problem in a few instances. Yesterday I did a tune up - new plugs, cap, rotor, air filter, and valve adjust. Every valve was tight - tighter than the bottom spec. I adjusted them all to 14, and after the tune up, I am happy to report that the problems are cured. I also noted that cylinders one through 5 had platinum plus 4's, cylinder 6 had a standard plug. Wonder if I should call the dealer and let them know?

It does make one wonder what kind of process has someone replace expensive parts like DME and ICV before checking some basics?
