I have been considering doing some work to my woodwork as well. My woodwork looks ok it just a bit dried out and has lost the gloss sheen. I think I'm going to pull it all off chemically strip it and stain it a medium to dark walnut and then spray a high gloss polyacrylic or hand rub gloss tung oil on it. The tung oil shouldn't yellow and is easy to touch up. The polyacrylic will spray on nice and smooth and is very tough and water resistant.

As an experiment I tried to refinish one small piece of dash wood trim but failed to achieve satisfactory results. I'm now faced with: living with it the dash wood way it is (very milky and ugly), buying new (big $) or applying some other sort of finish. My car is dark blue with light grey interior. I've thought of painting the trim an unoffensive black or blue or grey, or maybe even a VERY offsetting color (red?). I've even thought of trying to find some type of fabric that could be applied and then covered with new clear plastic coating or even leather dyed to match the existing interior. Anyone else ever done anything this crazy?
