Just replace my self leveling system with brand new HD bilsteins and new oem springs. I had one shock starting to leak (134,000 miles). The stealer wanted $800 p&l to do one shock. I purchased all brand new including the self leveling elimination kit from bavarian for under $600 and did the whole thing myself. Ride is great!! Will probably put new bilsteins on the front within a year.
Itīs the famous selv-leveling allright. Just affects the rear shocks, so both should be replaced (which is the general rule anyhow). The front ones are regular ones... Unless you got the K/S-switch in the console near the gear (comfort/sport suspension).
I just bought this car and while watching it being safetied I noticed a leaky rear shock. It appears to have a large reservoir attached to the shock. Is this the famed self-levelling type of system, and does this leak affect all the shocks?
Also, in Ontario shocks dont matter for safety certificates but isnt this the suspension of the whole car in this case?
