WEIRD self leveling Susp.!? (archive)

When the car is shut off, the rear suspension after an hour or two sags to the complete down limit. when you turn the car on....the rear end jacks itself to the proper height!? Is this the way this self leveling suspension is suppossed to work? I haven't been able to get the car up in the air to look at the shocks to see if there leaking but ....would this be the cause?

Also....is it an easy process to purchase a self leveling kit and do it your self?
