It would all depend on how the car was maintained. If well maintained and care for, they will last a very long time. I've got a 1987 model, with 151,000 km on it, and its still as good as new. The M30 6 cylinder in these cars have a very long service life - I used to own an E23 730, and that car had over 300,000 km on it, was 21 years old, and still a pleasure to drive.
Make sure you are prepare to spend some time sorting out all the small problems which seem to crop up on the E32 series (ie, electronic gremlins, front end wear etc.), and there ois no reason for it to wear out.

I am still looking to purchase a 1990 or 1991 BMW 735iL and i am wondering what is the typical life span of this car? How long (miles, etc.) before the car is unusable? How many miles until the car is not responsive or does not handle well or is a problem to maintain? I noticed many people that contribute to this messageboard own models similar to this one (E32s) so I was hoping they could respond from their personal experiences.. However, any info would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you.
